Chat GPT is growing as the days go on, not just in flexibility, but as well as in notoriety. There are ads for it on YouTube and most people on the web know of its existence. Sadly, like most things, chat gpt isn’t perfect, so here are some things that chap gpt has or currently is screwing up. According to (click to for link)

In March 2023, a security breach meant some users on ChatGPT saw conversation headings in the sidebar that didn’t belong to them. Accidentally sharing users’ chat histories is a serious concern for any tech company, but it’s especially bad considering how many people use the popular chatbot. It’s even gone as far as being banned in Italy, so here are the reasons that chat gpt is banned in Italy.

Reason 1. Breach of Privacy Laws. The GDPD’s chief concern is that chatGPT continues processing personal data in breach of its privacy laws. Although the way chatGPT works is that it has been trained prior to development, the chatbot still collects and processes data from users to provide relevant answers. The Italian regulator ensures data controllers follow the general obligations outlined in the EU’s privacy law, and OpenAI falls short.

2. Unjustified Collection of Personal data. Aside from the breach of its privacy laws, the GDPD claims that there is no legal justification for Open AI’s massive collection and processing of personal data to train ChatGPT’s algorithms. According to the italian regulator, ChatGPT’s information doesn’t always match factual circumstances, so OpenAI can use falsified personal data.

3. A Lack of Easily-Accessible and Transparent Information. In addition, the Italian regulator pointed out that OpenAI doesn’t inform users whose data it collects. This is another clear violation of the EU’s privacy laws.

4. Lack of Age Verification Systems. The GDPD announced that ChatGPT exposes inappropriate information to users under 13 because it lacks appropriate age detection mechanisms. This underage exposure violates the EU’s GDPR, which states that individuals must clearly consent to the processing of their personal data. As underage individuals, they are not to consent on their behalf.

5. Risk of Data Breaches. While citing a data breach reported on March 20th, 2023, the Italian regulator raised concerns about the chatbot’s risk of data breaches. Europol’s announcement of the potential of criminals using ChatGPT to commit fraud and cybercrime likely fostered these concerns. Data breaches also infringe on the country’s privacy laws-all data processors must implement appropriate security measures.

With this ban in motion, Italy could see its brother and sisters follow suit and ban ChatGPT as well. Another AIchatbot, that being Replika, was also banned in Italy, however under separate and very different circumstances. It was said that the AI Chatbots in Replika could be sexually aggressive even when users weren’t looking for said experience. Replika was also thrown under the bus due to it being available for minors, mentally unstable people and emotionally fragile people.Despite these differences and faults, Replika was in more ways, more advanced than its brethren( Chat Gpt) despite them having two separate goals with users.

All in all, I feel that this ban can and most likely will set a precedent for other countries in the EU. AI is growing and becoming more complex, so if the developers are letting things slip through the cracks like this, then there is no telling what your favorite black top hacker can find and exploit.
